Feeding technique?

I got some frozen bloodworms for my bettas and Sid, my JFB. I can't figure out how to feed them though. They defrost into a hideous glob that sinks as soon as it is dropped into the water, and then I find Sid head-down in the gravel, digging them up. They get all icky at the bottom of the betta tanks too.

Is there a good way to feed frozen bloodworms?

There is really no point in posing the same question in two different places in the forum.

My other suggestion is get a turkey baster and just suck out all the leftover ones within a few hours of feeding. This is essential for water quality.
