How is everyone keeping there tanks clean? After about a year mine is a little dirty...more than I would like...water changes twice a week, onion snail & horned snail. I like to give it a good stir and use a gravel vac (but not into the gravel). Thinking about going bare bottom with plants in glass dishes...

Don't mean to hijack the thread but thanks for the info on milfoil. I have heard of parrots feather but did not know it was the same plant I have wanted for a few years! It does ok in low light?
Also very nice set ups guys! My newts would be oh so jealous if they saw the digs some of your animals inhabit.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
