I have a couple of Fire Salamanders in the North West uk, but the recent high temperatures are giving me cause for concern, I have tried using fans to cool down the viv temperatures, even replaced the vivarium itself, but still consistently high, I am misting and currently have an aquarium fan set up above the tank, it’s currently 21.5 C.

My guys are still eating but burying right down in the substrate - any ideas or tips gratefully received!

Some people fridge them when it is hot and bring them out when it is cold. Some keep them in wine fridges.

what sort of viv are they housed in?

If its glass or plastic the super cheapo option is freezable pouches people use in lunch boxes . stick them near the exterior of the viv,

If you are able to spend more a small portable aircooler is about £80.00

Im in Scotland and getting away with windows so far this year.

Thanks, using an exo-terra small, low viv,so thin glass compared to their original but spent a fortune on gizmos and aquarium fans but nothing seems to be working, don’t mind spending out IF it works!
Actually the amount I’ve spent so far has resulted in the divorce word coming out!
I will try the ice cooler freezer patch idea first, many thanks guys, keep ‘em coming?
