What is the maximum depth for the water to keep these in? Is 10-12 inches to much? There will be terrestrial area to

I'm not sure but make sure they have plants/rocks so that they can climb out of the water if they don't want to swim it.

No such thing as too deep (at least not for domestic purposes xD i doubt anyone is going to provide 3m of water depth :p)
Dipsy is right, though, make sure to have lots of plants, they need them to hang out on and reach the surface effortlessly.

They won´t need any land if they are healthy and well housed. Please avoid obtaining them from pet-shops...they are all WC and will give you problems (plus you will condemn more animals to replace them).

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
