First frog

My children are wanting to get some frogs.... So my question would be what are some of the easier frogs to take care of....I will putting them in a 20 gallon upright tank.....Thanks for any information you can give.....

White's Tree Frog (Litoria caerulea). They are extremely easy to care for, very hardy, long lived, feed very well (almost too well) and have a friendly cute disposition. For these guys a 20tall is adequate for 1-2 individuals. I would also recomend African Clawed frog (Xenopus). These guys are fun too watch, long lived, easy to maintain, hardy and very cool looking. Another species I would recomend is Bombina orientalis (Oreiental Fire-Bellied Toad). Very hardy, long lived, captive conditions easy to meet, brightly colored and work well in groups (5 gallons per toad). Hope this helps!

I would second those choices, but I would add that fire-bellied toads are often wild caught and so they often have a parasite load within their guts. This should be treated by a qualified vet if the frog is to live a long happy life.

Thank you for the response I will you into those to see what the pet stores around here can get or have....I'm purchasesing a 29 gal hex this weekend so I will have a good start just start adding things to it to get it ready for the little ones new home.....

What ever you decide to get, make sure it is a one species tank. The above mentioned species should never be housed together.

Thanks for the info everyone....I picked up a 29 gal hex. tank last week.... hopefully I will have everything done to it this weekend just have to hit all the pet stores to see what little frogs I can find.....I will keep in mind of the ones you all suggested an see what I can find....
