Hello, everybody. I just recently discovered axolotls and have become obsessed with the little creatures. I've been researching them for a bit now and feel prepared to own one. I've got one coming in the mail within in the next few weeks. Please reply to this with any beginners/common mistakes so I can avoid them, and leave below any advice you may have. Thanks so much guys :)

1. Use aquarium sand or large stones that are bigger than the axolotls head so he/she doesn't get impaction
2. Keep the water cold around 60 degrees Fahrenheit
3. Earthworms are great for axolotls and mealworms and bloodworms can be used as a treat
4. I wouldn't recommend a take any smaller than 20 gallon long for an adult axolotl and for every axolotl you add in the tank you want an extra 10 gallon

Hope this helps!!!! Good luck!!!!;)

Don't use gravel for the bottom of the tank, as the axolotl could swallow them
Make sure there are plenty of hide areas for your axie
