Flint's white spot

Hello peoples, im back with another question. Flint has 2 white spots on his head, near the gills. One of them is bigger, with what seems like a small crack or dent in it. Hes been swimming around alot and trying to rub the spots on rocks. Ill post pics in a little bit. Thanks in advance!

Pics would be great. If he's scratching himself on things it may well be fungus, as that irritates them. A picture would be good but you can ensure it's not a natural iridophore by shining a torch light on it. If it shines back, it is a harmless iridophore. If it is cottony, then it is likely to be fungus and he will need salt baths.

Its not cottony, just a white spot. Ive already tries the light test, it didnt shine. The dent on one of them upsets me... Should i give him a salt bath?

It's really hard to tell on that picture, although thanks for it, it's awesome, especially with the zoom. Now, it looks more like he's shedding in that picture, which could be due to water conditioners, too much dechlorinator or heat stress.

Is it more like white slime?

A little like slime. Should i change some of the water and add no dechoronater? It is definatly not the heat, its 64 all the time.

Is there anything in the tank he could have caught his slime coat on?

Dechlorinator is important, but if it contains aloe and you add too much it can create too much slime coat, make sure your using the right amount

Thanks Layna! A water change is a good idea, Jellybean. Double-check how much dechlorinator you need and make it easier for yourself by using water containers in a set size - for example, using big 10 litre buckets. If it helps, write how much dechlorinator you need for each container when full on the side of them in permanent marker, or somewhere where you keep all your axxie stuff. Also, be sure to 'age' your water overnight - leave the dechlorinator in the water in containers for at least 24 hours if possible before water changes.

Hopefully this should reduce his slime coat shedding If this turns out not to be the cause it may be irritation from water conditions, so if it's not rectified, try a liquid parameter test. Hope this helps!

It turns out its a skin thing. He has fungus on his back and gills now, i gave him 2 salt baths, but it got worsh both times. Hes going to see an axolotl doctor soon

Oh dear! I hope he gets better soon! Salt baths can be harsh on them but it's one treatment that appears to work for fungus.

Great news guys!! Flint is at the doctor, and he had to get shots above his leg. It was a bacterial infection, coving his back and most of his gills. We left him at the doctor, and it was amazing!!!!!! All of the white stuff has fallen off! This place is awesome! Flint has only gotten one shot out of 3, but he's looking great already!
