Hi
i have a female leusistic axolotl t (LUNA)hat has been floating constantly for a couple of days
she also hadn't been holding food down and has lost a lot of weight

i assumed it was food impaction

i followed some advise on here about fridging which by the way is very easy to follow thank you

http://www.caudata.org/forum/f46-be...ick-axolotl/85263-axolotl-fridging-guide.html

after a couple of days in the fridge she did a big poop which was solid and would breakdown from suction with turkey bastor so i thought whoo hoo she's cool now i left her another day then started to adapt the water to put her back in the tank

when i re introduced her she sank down all good but maybe an hour later i found her right back onto floating again

im so concerned because she has lost a lot of weight

the tank has no substrate it is bare bottomed.lost of hides, fake plants, an external canister filter with outlet facing the glass so little disturbance

i change water regular at atlas 20% a week sometimes more i test the water and i took a sample in a week ago and all was good i just had to increase ph slightly from 6.8 to 7

she shares her tank with a wild type male (TIBIRINUS) whom is slightly smaller and younger
he has a skin condition recently which was cleared with the ph issue.
he also eats alot

diet is varied from earthworms from my worm farm and axolotl pellets sometimes bloodworms but they don't really touch them anymore

tank temp is kept below 20 degrees celsius and ranges between 16-20

a desk fan onto blowing across the water

so what i want to know is why is she still floating after reintroducing. I've put her back in the fridge for now

I'm really sorry to hear that. :( I'm also sorry no one got back to you on this thread. Keep a close eye on your male and make sure he doesn't start showing similar symptoms. I'll try and research and see what might've been causing that... I wouldn't know off the top of my head.

I'm so sorry to hear that your axolotl passed away.
Also sorry that we have not responded to offer help and support in a more timely manner.
Please keep us posted on the health of your other axolotl and we will try to help with any issues that may arise.
