He stays floating, bout four inches long, still eats, and he looks normal. any ideas?

My other lotl in the tank is fine.

I'm not sure. I have the same problem. I just recently got it and it was fine until this morning. It's floating a couple inches off the tank bottom and is otherwise healthy.

I've been reading some forums... says it could be gas or constipation. Do you have gravel in your tank?

There are hundreds and hundreds of threads on floating. The search button is located just under where you log in and check your PM's, at the top-right of the screen. Do a search for 'floating' and have a read through the threads that come up.

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
