I got my axolotls 5 days ago, Lilo and Stitch! They both settled in very nicely. However, this morning I noticed Stitch had her tail and back legs up floating up towards the top of the water. She doesn't have any bloating that I can see and looks the same as when I got her. She had a worm today so she is still wanting to eat. What should I do? Shall I wait a few days or shall I try putting her in the fridge?

These are my first pair and I'm so worried about her. :(

Please help!!

Thank you, Ellie.

I replied to your message but it's good to see the photos! Like I said I think it might be gas or needing to poop. Keep an eye on bowel movements. How long are the axolotls?

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
