Fluval 1 plus (Filter)

I have a ten gallon tank (housing two fire bellied Newts) that is going to be filled a little over half-way. I was checking out the Fluval 1 Plus internal filter and was wondering if it would work okay:

Too much current - they like still water. Why waste your money and time on a filter for this setup? Just add lots of live plants.

I like having a filter beause i dont have as much time to clean out my tanks, I was planning of attaching a tube to the out put hole on the filter to make a waterfall onto the land portion of the tank, that way i dont think the current issue would be a factor anymore. I was planning on filling the tank with plants anyhow....

Heather, that is a perfectly good filter, I have used that exact one for years (for my waterfall). It has a low current feature, and if you are using it for a waterfall, it has a very low current, go for it!

I use a fluval one on my Pachytriton tank and have used fluvals for years on many different tanks. Its always the filter i recomend for small tanks.

To disperse water out at a slower rate i have attached a three inch bit of hose to the output and then a wider bit of 3" hose to that first bit of hose and it really spreads the water out rather than a stream

I use a Fluval 1+ in my Pipa carvalhoi tank, to disperse the flow I push a piece of filter media onto the output.

Ah, good idea, i will definately buy one! but right now i cant, im a little low on money and my axolotls just laid their first batch of eggs ever! Im a first timer and its a bit hectic!

i might just wait for the holiday season to end before i get my filter...
