Good Morning,
Has anyone found a way to use better filter media with the Fluvial U1 low flow filter? It was supposed to be this great low water filter but the darn sponge clogs up within hours and stops being effective.
I want to try replacing the inner sponge with ceramic media or a modified carbon filter, and I'm wondering if there's a way to use a better sponge media as well.
It also seems like it's only pulling water through one end of the filter, but that's another issue altogether I guess. Unless the fact that I'm using it horizontally instead of vertically due to the lower water level would effect this?
Fwiw, I have been using a gravel vacuum daily and always end up replacing 1 to 1.5 gallons of water in the process. The aquarium itself is a 10gal with wood frog tadpoles and holy crap these dudes are messy!
