Hello, I currently have 3 buckets of daphnia. One of the buckets has become foamy on the top. This is causing them to get stuck in it and die.I added an airstone and done a water change but I think it's just getting worse, what can I do too to get rid of the foam?

I've read air stones are bad as the fine bubbles trap them and kill them . I'm not sure what to do to break up foam but I just let my culture sit without anything and they seem to do fine . Hope some one more helpful posts

No airstone, it's just a tube, with gentle aeration. The water is better now. I did another water change and fed them, the next day it was better. Maybe I had high nitrates or some thing? The bigger daphnia seem to have bubbles under their shells and still float weird, but they aren't getting stuck as much. Hopefully it's all better for now.

Aaaaaand they're all dead. I guess this is why you have multiple cultures going.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
