Foot/leg Injured

I woke up to find my golden albino axolotl damaged his/her leg, the skin seems to be pealed off and he's not putting any weight on the damaged leg. I don't know if one of the tank mates did it or if it got caught on something. I have three ~7 inch axolotl's in a 30 gallon tank. I isolated the injured one in their tank, I'm wondering if there is anything I should do? Or should I just leave him where he is and keep an eye on the leg (What should I watch for?). The tank temperature is 64 F (18 C).

I don't really see anything in your tank that could have caused that kind of injury, so I believe one of the tankmates is the culprit. Right now, the most you can do is keep an eye on him, keep him separate from the others, and maybe give him some tea baths just to help the skin heal. If you start to see any fungus, stop the tea baths immediately and give him salt baths. There are tutorials for both baths in the forums.

Your set up is pretty sparse. Given that your tank is on the small side for 3 axolotls, I would add a quite a few more visual barriers to keep nipping to a minimum.

Thanks, I'll keep an eye on him and try to add a few more things to their tank this weekend. I have a 50 gallon tank that they will be moved into when they get bigger, I need to re-seal it though.

I thought the rule of thumb is 1 axolotl per every 10 gallons? correct me if I'm wrong, just curious as i was wanting to get some more babies and a bigger tank.

It's 10 gallons per axolotl, plus some extra space for decorations and such.
