I have posted about my golden albino recently but i want to ask if ive done the right thing.
He hasnt eaten in a week (apart from 1 little earthworm last night)
For the past week his body shape has been very strange. Very swollen on one side and very flat the other side. He hasnt pooped properly in a week either. Hes done 2 tiny poops which have been bright green.
He stays in one place with his back legs in the air and gills flapping every 2-3 seconds. Not interested in any food.
Water is fine 0 ammonia 0 nitrite 40 nitrate.
Today i have put him in the fridge. Never done this before. Put him in a tub and hes moving around (not aggressively though) like he wants to get out.
Should i have put inthe fridge? If yes, how long should i keep him in there for? :(

I probably would've taken him to the vets instead. Green poop sounds really odd... Him being in the fridge won't get him to eat either. However if it's impaction it may help pass it. But yeah I would see the vets.

Yeah its really weird its bright green. Now hes been in the fridge hes got white fluffly stuck coming out his back end.
I just thought he might be constipated as he ate lots of worms a week ago and hasnt pooped or eaten since then and one side looks very bloated :(

Worms shouldn't really cause that much constipation often.. What do you feed your worms? Is there anything in the tank he could have eaten that's bright green? I'm honestly confused what the green would be caused by. Are there any vets near yours?

I dont feed the worms anything i get them from a pet shop place and get about 20 a time so they last a week. They werent that big the worms i fed him last either. No theres nothing in my tank he would of eaten :/ all i have in there is sand but its not green. I tried to take some photos of the green stuff you can just see it in the photo.
This morning ive checked on him in the fridge his body is still a strange shape and theres still white fluffy stuff hanging out his back end :(
There is a vet near me, have no idea how much they know about axolotls if he doesnt improve over the weekend ill have to take him there.

Similar thing happend to my axie leo, he is currently at the vet and I am awaiting a phone call as to how it went, I would also recommend taking him to a vet. Not quite shure how long the drive is but seers croft in horsham catters for axolotls. But given I live near leatherhead and it took me 30 min it is likely to far for your axolotl.

Burnham House and Anna House are nearer to you and advertise they care for exotics - look them up and see what they say.

Did yours poop bright green stuff as well?? Ive never heard of them doing it before its so strange. Yeah horsham is quite far away. Have been speaking to auntie jude whos advised me of some local vets that im going to look into.
Hate it when their not well, hope your little guy is ok and the vet can make it better !

My axie had been constipated for a week, the poo was moth of a greenish white and was rather tiny. I just got the perscribed antibiotics for him the likely illness is septicemia but the full diagnosis is still not back yet.

Hes been in the fridge for 24 hours now and just checked on him and to change water. Hes moving around in the tub but still no poop, his body still looks weird and swollen and alot more white stuff coming out his back end.
Im not going to be able to take him to a vet until after the weekend. Over the next 2 days should i keep him in the fridge? Give him salt baths?

I would not be stressing him out with salt baths. There is no sign of fungus, so I cannot see how it would help.
I would be worried about the potential of septicaemia, if that is the probable diagnosis for Leo, as the swelling did make me worry about that possibility, especially with the apparent swelling of the back leg/s. If that is the case, antibiotics from a vet asap would be the only advice.

Edit: still didn't change my comment leo's diagnosis was septicemia and or organ failure, however leo's bloat is far worse.

Oh bless him he looks so uncomfortable :( hope he gets better!
Ive taken him out the fridge a he hasnt passed anything or pooped so dont see the point him being in there.
Ive put him in his own little 12l tank i use for babies until i can get him to a vet, i can moniter him better in there and dont really want to put him back in the normal tank incase hes got any kind of illness that could spread to my other axie i house with him who is fine.
Hes moving around alot in the little tank but still looks funny. Hes not as swollen (im guessing because hes not eaten properly in a week and a half) but one side still looks bloated compared to the other flat side. He hasnt pooped anymore bright green or white stuff so far.
After calling round some local vets, most hadnt even heard of them, one said "what that fish thing?" ... Alot of vets round here just deal with farm animals as i live in a rural area. Anyway i called a vet about an hour away from me (advised by Auntie Jude thank you so much!!) and they are going to have a look at him tomorrow! Also going to check the one i house him with incase anythings spread. So i will update what they say tomorrow.

You just need to find a vet who knows how to treat for exotics, none of the staff with the exception of the vet treating Leo knew what an axolotl was. I was surprised by how hardy he was being able to survive being under anesthetics. But then again my axolotls have surprised me lots of times before.

Update:
Taken him to the vet today. He said its got a liver infection and the bright green stuff coming out is bile. Leaving him at the vet, they are going to inject him with antibiotics until i can take him home. He thinks it was likely caused by a worm that was ill itself

So glad i finally know whats wrong and a vet that can help him. Was definately worth the long drive. Thanks everyone for advice and help!! :)

I sadly wasn't so lucky, Leo sadly passed away yesterday of liver failure. but don't worry your axie's symptoms are distinctly different. I wish him the best of luck.
