I recently got an axolotl last Sunday. I am going to do the best I can to describe my situation and any tips will be much appreciated.
When we bought our axolotl we were provided with a 29 gallon tank, prime, stability, and a cycled filter as well as instructions for set up etc.
My issue is with ammonia and my home water. I check the water every day because the ammonia is constantly reading between .25 and .50. Nitrites read 0, Nitrates read 5, and ph is around 7. The issue with my water source at home is that the ph is very low, it reads at about 6. I have been doing water changes, but feel hesitant because I know that the ph is too low and I'm not really sure of a safe way to raise it. As for the axolotl he seems to be doing very well. He eats, poops, and hangs around on and in his hides. Any advice about the ammonia and ph would be great, I am so scared that I am going to hurt him.
