The fungal culture came back, and the results identify the fungus as an unknown species of Trichoderma. But in my research, Trichoderma is not known to have any relation to salamanders and is a soil-based fungus not an aquatic-based fungus. I am at a loss with this. The only Fungus I have found that causes fluffy cotton-like growths is Saprolegnia species. I cannot find a good image of this genus to compare to Aladar's infection. Anyone that can help with this, I would appreciate seeing what you can find.

In news of Aladar's condition. I mentioned in my previous thread that the amputation was canceled. Since then, I had done salt baths once to twice a day. There was a period of ~a week that I neglected to do the baths do to various life factors. I then noticed that there were white growths on his head, semi-cloudy eyes, and some small tendril-like growths around his mouth. I promptly resumed the salt baths and over this past weekend I took him home from my apartment in Albany to my home on Long Island in order to continue to do the salt baths over the weekend. He hasn't eaten in around a week, though he isn't losing large amounts of weight, nor is his activity super lethargic so I'm not overly concerned there.

I have attached some images as well as the fecal report and fungal culture report.
