Hi all,

Sometime last week I posted about my axie acting pretty strange. He's been really shy and skittish and just hides in his log all day. Well today I caught him outside of his log and I noticed some fungus growing on one of his gills. It's not a lot, but I was curious as to know if this could be what is causing his strange behavior?

Also, should I start with salt baths immediately, or just start off with fridging him?

I will try to get a picture, but he's back to hiding in his log again and I can't see the back of his gill where the fungus is growing.

Thanks!

There's no need to fridge him if the salt baths are working, and if it's only a minute amount of fungus. What are your parameters and temp?

Axolotls like the hide away most of the time or when they're stressed.

I just tested my parameters and my ammonia is at .8 ppm. I tested the pH just the other day and it was at a 7.5. I am on the fast track to getting him into some fresh water and taking care of the tank. I'm fairly sure my cycle crashed, so I'm gonna keep him out of the tank until I can get everything re established, along with giving him some salt baths.
