Fungus (?) on gills?

I have an axolotl that I obtained from an acquaintance a couple months ago. He didn't want her anymore, and knew I had one, and I decided to take her in. She is supposed to go to a new home in a few weeks as I really don't have the space for her.
Today when I got home, I noticed that she had what I first thought were growths on her gills, but on closer inspection seemed to be maybe a type of fungus, but I'm not really sure. They're semi-transparent, and look a bit fuzzy. They are growing over some of the filaments on one of her gills. I will try to get a picture to add. I'm really worried, as she's supposed to go to a new home soon, and I want her to be as healthy as possible.
Just so you have a complete picture, she hasn't been eating very much lately, and my other axolotl (in the same tank) hasn't ever had problems.
I guess I need to know what I can do to get rid of the fungus-y stuff, and how to keep her from getting it again.

First of all, get a picture asap. Treating fungus is easy; you just give them salt baths. But salt baths can be very stressful for them and if they end up being unnecessary...

Sorry if the picture isn't that great, the only camera I have is on my phone. This was the best I could get. I checked her this morning and they seemed to have gotten a little smaller since last night when the photo was taken.

Maybe try a tea bath and putting some almond leaves in the water?

EDIT, maybe a salt bath instead of tea bath. Theres a tutorial around here somewhere..

A weird-looking fungus. Is it solid? You may be able to gently pull it off with some forceps. Gently! If there's any resistance, don't do it!

That fungus looks like the fungus my axies had.

Some salt baths took care of it. It actually came right off after the first salt bath, but I kept giving them salt baths just to make sure.

They're all fine now, and I'm sure your axie will be too

New development. I'm getting super worried. I was getting ready to get her a salt bath, and when I went to get her out of the tank, I saw the fungus was no longer on her gills... But the filaments that been under it have been dissolved...
Uh. What do I do? There's no more fungus anywhere on her, but some of her gill filaments are gone...

Keep her water fresh and cool and keep an eye on her. I'd also be tempted to put an almond leaf in her water in case it's not fungus and her skin is sore.

The gill filaments should regenerate. And I'd also suggest some almond leaves.

But what I do is simply add some driftwood to the tank. The tannins are beneficial for your axies' skin and slime coat. If anything should ever happen and you're unaware, they will automatically get a "treatment"
Warning: if you do this, your water will turn somewhat brown. But I kind of like that. Makes it seem more natural.
