Fungus or dead skin?

I was cleaning the filter..i took out my axolotl to move him in a smaller aquarium because the water is extreamly dusty..so when put it into smaller aquarium the axolotl flip its tail really hard until the tail a bit damage..the next day i saw white stuf at the end of its tail..is this dead skin/slime coat or fungus?my tank is 0 ammonia..water temp 22-24

Can you cool the water down? The high temperature might be causing stress and other complications like fungus. Most people quote the ideal temperature should be around 15 - 20.

the temperature will a bit high in the morning around 22-24..but at night the temperature will be low at 17-19..i lower my temperature by cooling fan in the morning..at night using aircon..

I would keep an eye on it for now, if it starts to spread it is probably fungus.

For now just keep the water cool and clean.

If you can get the water temperature down in the mornings with a fan or frozen bottles of water then that would be beneficial but if you can't I wouldn't worry too much as it is not catastrophically high. If the temperature starts to creep above 25 then you will need to take steps to cool it.

Keep us updated and post more pictures if anything changes.

the white stuff has fall off..i think its a dead skin..my axolotl tail has a bit damage tough..just feed it with bloodworm this morning and earthworm at night(feed twice because body become slimmer)..anyone can tell me about tea bath?using the almond tea leaves..

This thread has a very good and easy to follow tea bath guide in it.

I have never used Indian Almond leaves but from reading threads on this forum I believe the principal is pretty similar to the tea baths except you steep almond leaves in water instead of a tea bag.

You can purchase almond leaves off e bay.

Out of curiosity why are you asking? If the white stuff has fallen off you do not need to be doing any sort of bath, salt, tea or almond leaf. Just keep your water cool and clean and monitor for any signs of it reoccuring.

Tea and almond baths aren't harmful, like salt baths. They can be done with little consequence if you have any skin injuries.

I definitely agree with lowering your temperature though. High temperatures will cause a lot of problems.

Here in malaysia almond tree is everywhere..so i can just pick it up whenever i want..haha..just want to know about tea bath incase axolotl got fungus atack..i cant put my axolotl into my fridge because my fridge is 1'C..and im not bold to do salt bath to my axolotl because my axololt do not like to be handled..it will strugle a lot..

Tea bath information.

Both of these treatments are soothing & prevent fungus - they are not intended to be used as a fungus treatment - salt baths are the best for treating fungus.

Take a moment each day to just try holding the axolotl in the tank gently & cover it with the other hand cupped over, then just raise it like you are going to remove it but hold it just under the surface - then let it go. If you can get your axolotl used to bring handled it will help if you ever have to move it. The more it gets used to it the less it will freak out. But be very gentle & if it seems too startled then don't keep trying.

Sorry if the info I have given was totally wrong Kaysie.

It might be just me but the idea of nets makes me worry. I've had to transfer mine for various things & have always just carefully moved them by hand - they're very used to it & don't freak out. The bigger ones try & climb on my hand when I'm tidying up their rooms & they seem to like going for rides on the things I'm moving >_< helping!!

thanks for the info so tea bath i just for prevention while salt bath is for treatment..guess i must train my axolotl to be handle ..it just does'nt like to be handled..

Most of them don't. But like kids, it's for their own good.

Nikki, I also transfer mine by hand, but if an axolotl isn't 'okay' with it, a net offers quite a bit more security than having it slither out of your hand.
