Georgian Hellbenders

Busted, but I'm sure it was well worth it!!

Russ, it's a nice account and it looks like you had fun. I am glad you're sharing and I suppose a link is better than nothing but I would prefer something of substance on this forum. I also don't want an example to be set for others to just post links. Don't get me wrong, I'm not pushing to compete with FHF - after all they cover everything. We just specialise Caudata.

Edit: I've made a sticky thread about this issue http://www.caudata.org/forum/showthread.php?t=48739

I just came across this thread. Again good find Russ! I personally find it so irritating that you found one within a few minutes of searching!! I have been searching the New River here in VA for over three years now with no success. I am of course just kidding about being irritated. It gives me some hope for the survival of the species to know that you found one with relative ease.

I may have to be out that way for a couple of weeks on business. If so, I'll give you a holler and we'll have go take a look. I wish I could have gotten a pic of the bigger of the three, it was awesome.

Russ,
I'm in the New River Valley. If you make it this way and are able to give me some advance notice I think that it would be fun to go "bendering". I know where they are supposed to be so who knows, maybe we will get lucky.
