Back story I got him ( not for sure a him cause he's so small ) this way.
So I've had this 3.5 inch approx axolotl less than a week. He eats ( Well) , he poops ( they huge) , he's tubed with a sponge filter which he climbs all over. So I know he's not 'sick' - he's tubed mostly so I can keep a close eye on him because he came from not ideal conditions and he's a wee fella . He's clearly Gill nipped - I donno when and his gills look better everyday since I got him

- but can I be doing more than water changes and keeping him at 67/68.
I would like him to make the most recovery of them that is possible. I've read conflicting things on gill regeration - but because he is a baby he would also have better odds? His tail is clearly nipped in the past and in the last stages of regeration. We got all the fingers and toes tho 🤷. Any suggestions
Also white spots on his nose - not cottony or bothering him - just a weird marking for a wild ?

Hi! It sounds like what you are doing is great! An indian almond leaf may be of some benefit, preventing infection at least. My boy, Kirby, lost all his gills due to stress from inaccurate water temps when I first got him. My profile pic is him at his baldest state. After temp adjustments and a few months, this was him just this evening

As I am sure you can see, they’ve filled out a lot! In your case, the gill stalk itself looks damaged which may be a different situation altogether, but who knows

Thanks I'll get almond leaves today. They will make my water brown/ish right? I've seen some stuff on people using it with them.

Yes, they will tint the water, but it isn’t harmful. It’s very good!
