Illness/Sickness: Gill scratching and sudden bursts?

In the fridge but noticed a laceration

Ok so Ive moved little ladon into a 5gal bucked in the fridge and have been changing the water daily w/ dechlorinated water (left next to him over night in the fridge). There are no sharp objects in the bucket but i noticed a small laceration on the top of his tail. bout 1/2cm long. I know Axies are revered for there ability to regenerate body parts, so is this just something i should disregard for the meantime as long as no fungus is present? he's still eating pellets as long as there falling in front of his face. will post photo later if needed. Thanks guys!

As long as he is still eating, there's no fungus and seems happy enough, then he should be right. Just keep the water clean (changing it daily) and watch for the fungus.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
