So i have recently bought a new tank for my Male paddle-tail newt. It measures 30 x 15 x 12.

I was hoping to be giving ideas on what i should have in the tank. Example setups?

My old and 1/3 of the size tank just had a lot of rocks and things in it so he had space to move and hide. But this is a bigger tank and i would love some ideas as to what kind of setup i could have.

Would I be able to have live plants in this tank? Any suggestions on types would be good.

Oh and would this size of tank be suited for 2 paddle-tails to be housed in. I am aware that they are territorial buggers :p but if the second was female would it be okay?

sounds like you need a similar set up on a larger scale..if you can make a few hiding places theres no reason not to try to introduce another but i would introduce them to the new tank at the same time so the old newt hasn't had time to claim it all for himself. If you can get some sort of filter which will move the water this will also be good for them as they live in streams in the wild..I would stick to plants like Elodea as the thrive at lower temps....ian

I agree: if you're going to try to have 2 paddletails together, it's best to introduce them both to the new tank at the same time, and be sure to have plenty of hideouts. Broken pots and various rocks work well.

What kind/amount of light will the tank get? And do you mean aquatic plants or above-water types, or both?

Its gets sunshine in the day :s

Like i have it on my unit so it is in light during the day and its dark at the night - Normal cycle i guess...

And i dont mind which plants as long as they wont harm him...

Cheers - these im still "Iffy" On xxx

Wether natural lighting is okay - Natural cycle of day and night.

Which plants are suitable?

And sizes - How big should it be for 2 to be housed together?

Thanks for the link to the setups.. Was hoping for any other inspirational ideas :p
