Growth on toe ?

During feeding today I noticed one toe had something on it. It’s the the same color as his skin. Any clues or suggestions to what it might be would be greatly appreciated.

SideNote : about 4 days ago, his tank mate did pass , and we weren’t really aware of the reason. But we didn’t notice any growths on that axolotl .

Hard to say what that is but it could be a fungus or columnaris. I would give the animal a salt bath regimen (look on https://www.caudata.org/cc) and see how if this changes in a few days.
