Question: Has cycling nearly finished

Has the cycling process nearly finished
Ammonia level is 0
Nitrate 25
Nitrite 0
General hardness 16
Carbonate hardness 10
PH 7.6
Chlorine 0.8
Temp at 20 C

If its not done what should I do now?
There is no ammonia source in the tank, my newt is not in there yet but hopefully soon.

Help please I know I have been a pain in the *** and asked the same questions over and over again but I just cant wait for the cycling process to finish, I don’t want to do anything wrong and have to start all over again, I’m sure my poor newt would love to be back in his tank.

2 days ago the Ammonia was 0.25, Nitrite 0, Nitrate 25 so I took out the ammonia source and did a 40% water change now the Ammonia is 0, Nitrite 0 and Nitrate 25

So what do you think has it finished or not?

It sounds finished to me, but I'm worried that you're getting chlorine readings. Are you treating your tapwater before water changes? If you're accidentally adding chlorine to the water, then you may be killing off beneficial bacteria, and your cycle may not be stable yet.

Most of the time I treat the water with tapsafe and let in sit before putting it in the tank but last time I put it in then treated it, I wont do that anymore thanks.
So if I test it all again in a day or two and the levels are Ammonia 0, Nitrite 0 and Chlorine 0 then its done and I can put my newt back in?

I’ve checked again and the Chlorine is 0
Ammonia 0
Nitrate 25
Nitrite 0
General hardness 16
Carbonate hardness 6
PH 7.2 and the Temp is still at 20 C

It’s finished hip-hip-hooray so at some point today I will put my newt back in his tank.

I'm no pro... but it sounds like it may have cycled. You should be able to use it with daily monitoring and water changes as needed depending on test results. Some one Kick my....uh... I mean correct me if I'm wrong. :happy:
How long has it been up and running?

It’s been running for 6 weeks now with no newt in it, but he is in there now and seems happy
