I just got my axie yesterday and I can't seem to get it to eat anything. I'm a first time owner and the axie is about three inches. I managed to get it to eat a couple of blood worms yesterday a few hours after I put it in the tank (I used the fish method), but whenever I try now it either doesn't notice the food or I accidentally bump it and it swims away. I've been trying bloodworms. Any advice?

Hello!

When taking home a new axolotl, it is important to remember that the process of moving it to a new environment can be incredibly stressful.. Especially for a juvie. A lot of time when an animal is stressed, it won't be eating as much. Its good that you got it to eat a few bloodworms yesterday but I would say that you should try to let it adjust to its new tank and get used to the new surroundings.

Also make sure that your tank is cycled correctly and that there isn't too much current and your new axolotl should be acting normal soon.

Okay. I'll leave it be for now. My tank has been cycled for a few months now. I decided I wanted one back in February, bought the whole setup with my income tax return, had it cycled by April, moved to a new place in May, cycled it again by July but it was too hot for them to travel, and finally had enough money to get it. The filter I have is a canister filter facing the wall to lessen the flow, and my apartment is fairly dark because of odd light placements. The water is about 67 degrees Fahrenheit. It's a 40 gallon tank so it's rather large for something so tiny.

Well all of that sounds great to me! Your little axie probably just needs some time.
