He totally just ate his own poop.

He should be fine, did he spit it out or just eat the whole thing? Fish do it all the time and when axies or fish do it, they usually spit it out.

He should be fine just keep a close eye on it, it came out of him must be fine to ingest in low levels as gross as that may sound!

Axies eat their own poop all the time. And their tank mates' poop. As do many other animals. Gross, but true.

(and if you really want to be grossed out look up 'fecal transplant as a treatment for clostridium difficile')

(or this guy from Cornwall UK who had a 'cow slurry fetish' - BBC news story)

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
