Heart breaking

My son visited me yesterday and I asked how Goldie (mother to my 7 lotls) is doing. He said he didn't know because the original owners wanted her and Axle (father to my 7) back for breeding.. He told them I had Axle and good luck trying to get him back... Out of curiosity he went to see them.. This morning he turns up with Goldie, almost in tears. His first words were, "Dad Goldie needs help".. It broke my heart to see her in this condition.. The first time I had ever seen her she was the same color as a Goldfish..
Immediately I gave her a Furan-2 bath, then into clean water and straight into the fridge.. I said to son, "I think she has ammonia poisoning". This her below... Its really heart breaking..

So the original owners asked for her back and then end up almost killing her?
It definitely looks like a fungal infection, there's a sticky on this forum about other treatments for it.
A tea bath would help sooth her skin and might kick start the healing process.

To me she looks like an older axolotl in fairly decent condition. Older axolotls will often develop large spots of color which I've seen referred to as hypopigmentation. The deep folds and lighter color can also be an indication of age.

Going only on the pictures you provided, I didn't notice any apparent sign of infection, fungal or otherwise. I also am not seeing anything that may be related to recent ammonia toxicity.

What about her condition exactly prompted you to start treating with antibiotics?

The original owners reason for her condition was, they haven't had a lotl for three years and were forgetting she was there... pretty lame excuse but she's with us now... My son said they were lying because they had bought another male to mate with her but all he could see were wounds and missing toes where she had been attacked.....

About a month ago we received Axle who was Goldies original mate.. We got him because she constantly attacked him... That was the last time I had seen Goldie and at that point she was the same color as a goldfish and had no wounds or scars.... For her condition to change so drastically in a short time has got to be bad husbandry and stress....
The white spots are hardish lumps kinda like hard blisters or ulcers.. That and her wounds is why I used Furan-2.. But she's only 7 years old... The good thing is, she's eating well but hasn't pooped, but then we've only had her for a day..
Its just sad to know what she looked like a few weeks ago to what she is now...

Goldie is doing well.. we got her 7th June and after 20 odd days, this is what she looks like....

That is disgusting of people who treat pets for farming purposes. Your Goldie is looking happier already, I would also consider giving her some antibiotics to help on the way. Good luck!

I agree.. I hate it when people abuse animals... Initially I gave her a 3 day treatment of Furan-2.. I might give her another one. Those spots are not lumps any more but they still worry me...
