Hi Carlos,
This is going to depend on how extereme the thermal shock actually was and for how long. It is possible that permanent damage has occured to the newt.

Until this assessment can be made, treat the animals as being under severe stress, feed small meals daily, and keep the temperature cool and constant until the animal recovers or dies.

Hi Ed, thanks for your reply!

How to present the heat stress???

(sorry for my bad English ^_^ )

Is your weather very hot? How warm does the tank get?

I keep the temp. at 23-25C in summer and 15-18C in winter, and 5C for a few weeks

I think the most important problem is the new import animals received the heat stress in the petstore. They keep the Temp. quite hot for the newt (above 27-30 C)

Hi Carlos,
If possible try to get them the day they come into the store would be my suggestion.
That said, if the animals are not rigid, or attempting to constantly escape the enclosure then they will be stressed but probably salvagable. I would suggest getting them down to about 25 C initially and then slowly cool them over the next several days at 1 degree a day to prevent thermal shock. I would suggest feeding them small meals daily to help the newt deal with the increased metabolic rate.

I doubt that there is any medical treatment. Just follow Ed's advice and hope for the best.
