I love aquariums and have a few large ones set up in my house. I mainly like fish and freshwater plants but have always loved axolotls. They are so interesting. I have always wanted a few in one of my planted aquariums. Can't wait to see where this forum takes me!

Welcome to the forum. Let the addiction, I mean fun begin!

Welcome! I wouldn't think axolotls to be the best animals in a planted tank-they're big and messy and could uproot plants if it wanted to.

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
