Happy New Year All,

My name Is Marco Di Quinzio and I live in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada with my wife and 3 girls.

2 months ago we were cleaning up leaves and found a 4 toed salamander. With winter coming I was worried that we may have disturbed its shelter so we took it in. We’ve been winging it ever since. I fed it a spider today and have dropped in other bugs I’ve found over the last two months. We don’t know what it’s gender is but my youngest decided it’s a boy and his name in Sylvester.

That’s my story:)

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
