Hi everyone,
My name's Lindsay and I'm a Pre-Veterinary student in Rome, Ga.
I recently lost my N. maculosus, but I would consider the experience I had with him a success, considering he was almost twenty-three years old when he passed! I am desperately seeking another.
Also, when I was looking around a stream the other day and I found what I think is a red sal, but some have told me it has way too many spots and is a mud sal...Yes, he was put right back where we found it and no, thats not my hand touching it in the picture. Maybe someone on here would be able to solve the mud/red salamander dilemma? I think I managed to atch. a picture, we shall see.

Welcome to the forum. The only real definitive way to tell the difference between the two is to look at their eyes. Red salamanders have gold eyes while mud salamanders have brown ones. If you ask me though it looks like a red salamander, I've never seen a mud salamander that bright before.
