Hi to you all.
Can I start by congratulating you all on a fantastic forum, I've learnt so much already :blob:
I have 2 Axies, Mulder and Scully. I bought them last week, not sure of age (got them from a pet shop) but they are both around 6" long.
They are both enjoying their earthworms pretty much every day and have had the occasional cube of bloodworm which they love.
They are on a sand bottom with a bog wood, plant and slate "hiding end" and a clear "exercise area" which they like to wander round. Temp is usually 18-19c.
They have a large slate cave that I made and my filter output is on top of it with some plastic plants to help distribute the water ... their own personal waterfall.
Hope this all sounds ok, they seem quite happy.
No sign of poop yet, should this be a worry? How often do they poop when fed daily?
Picture quality is terrible, sorry. Need a better camera :p
Looking forward to getting to know you all as I loiter around the forum, stealing all your knowledge ;)

Hello & welcome :)

I absolutely love their names :D
-such an X-Files geek  lol

The set up is fantastic - so happy
to see someone do their homework
before getting their lotls :)

Have you got a liquid master test kit to keep an eye on your water parameters?
Do you understand the nitrogen cycle of the tank? It's important to keep on top of water quality to prevent minor problems becoming major issues :)

...Are you /me/? I was going to name my first pair Spooky and Dana. Protips for awesome taste in names!

It really is a great forum for loiter-learning. I've been doing that for a while now, and when I'm finally able to set up my tank, I should at least have the basics down!

Hi Nikki & Pondweed.
I just couldn't think of better names for my little alien like babies :D ..
and I do love X-Files.
Nikki I have tropical fish so already had a master kit and basic knowledge of tank cycling. I am still doing 20% water changes daily as the tank has not cycled yet, I only had it running for a week before I bought my Axies, only went into the shop to visit them and couldn't resist bringing them home there and then .
I did steal some filter gunk from the 2 existing tropical tanks when I initially set up the axie tank so hopefully it helped a bit ... no scary spikes so far anyway.

I think I may have to go with Groliffe and Graculus then. (If you know where those names are from, you'll be even more of an immediate hit with me than you are for liking X-Files!)

And I know that feeling. I keep going into pet shops to look at Lotls, and Mum's all, "Well why don't you just bring one HOME then?" No, no, I have to PREPARE and if it's coming to Uni with me, I have to make decisions like tank size, and when to get them, and set up a worm farm (although my Uni is in a fishing town so there should be no issues getting food), and—

She knows about cycling anyway. We haven't had tanks since I was a kid, and she looked after them (we had to help clean out occasionally, but I was so young the memories are patchy.)

Noggin is quite a cool name too ;)
I was also tempted by Merry and Pippin ... yeah I'm a LOTR addict
