Hi Everyone,
I unexpectedly inherited a pair of axolotls over the holidays and I'm so grateful that both this site and forum exist!
Zephyr is a large male wild type with an even larger personality (deserves his own blog). The other is a smaller, rather meek leucistic type with no real name and of uncertain sex. Within the first week of their stay, Zeph bit his tankmate and degloved its front leg. The remains were a frayed mess, so I carefully snipped them off and set up the fridge as directed. I think the procedure was more traumatic for me, to be honest. I was so worried the wee thing wasn't going to make it, but I'm delighted to report that it is out of the fridge and eating again. Time to give it a name and continue learning all that I can about these amazing creatures. They are living separately now and I have no plans to reunite them any time soon.
Anyway, here I am, and I'm looking forward to sharing and hearing from others who love their axolotls.
