Hi, my name is Nathan and I love salamanders.

Besides the three species I currently keep (two Ambystoma species and Siren intermedia) I have at various times in the past kept eastern and fire-bellied newts, a few other Ambystoma, and a handful of plethodontids. I also keep several species of turtles, snakes, frogs, and freshwater fish.

I'm big on DIY when it comes to pet-keeping. I'm not claiming I'm good at it, just that I like to do it. I just finished turning a 120 gallon tank into a paludarium, I'm working on a 45 gallon treefrog paludarium, and I have plans for a few other projects in the near future.

I just finished my bachelor's in biology and am taking a hiatus before heading on to grad school. Ecology and biogeography of herps and aquatics are my primary interests, but I'm also interested in evolution and taxonomy, conservation, invasive species, and so on.

So, that's me in a nutshell.

Well, would you look at that- another Nathan! Welcome to the forum!

Glad to have you, Nathan #2.

Where at in TN do you reside, the herp-tastic side (east) or the not-so-herp-tastic side?

Welcome, glad to see another knowledgeable forum goer! Hope you enjoy your stay!
Anthony

Thanks all! Kaysie, I'm in middle TN northwest of Nashville. Obviously we don't have the salamander diversity of east TN, but we do have a greater diversity of some other herp groups over here. And the interior low plateau is the national champ for fish diversity!

Glad to hear it! My best friend's a fish biologist. She's almost as nerdy as me :D

I just want to say I'm finding a wealth of helpful information here. I'm glad I joined!

That's great to hear!

I have to say, I saw this and for a minute I was thinking to myself "now why does it say that I posted here? Wasn't that the other day?" :p
