Hi, my name is Nathan and I love salamanders.
Besides the three species I currently keep (two Ambystoma species and Siren intermedia) I have at various times in the past kept eastern and fire-bellied newts, a few other Ambystoma, and a handful of plethodontids. I also keep several species of turtles, snakes, frogs, and freshwater fish.
I'm big on DIY when it comes to pet-keeping. I'm not claiming I'm good at it, just that I like to do it. I just finished turning a 120 gallon tank into a paludarium, I'm working on a 45 gallon treefrog paludarium, and I have plans for a few other projects in the near future.
I just finished my bachelor's in biology and am taking a hiatus before heading on to grad school. Ecology and biogeography of herps and aquatics are my primary interests, but I'm also interested in evolution and taxonomy, conservation, invasive species, and so on.
So, that's me in a nutshell.
