Hi!
I just recently became obsessed with having some salamanders as pets. I used to have a bunch of them as a child, but then kind of grew out of it, but recently I was on a walk and some random jack-*** kids had a bottle half full of water with a tiger salamander in it. They called me over (No idea why) and try to sell it to me.
Being that I love salamanders and especially tiger salamanders - I bought it from them for the fair price of $1, and let it go - since it was obviously going to die and I liked the idea of it not dying better then me keeping a dollar.
Anyway, that set something off and now, 2-3 months later I feel I absolutely need to get a salamander again as a pet before winter comes.

Here are some pictures -- the small salamander in my hand is the one I saved, and the other one is my first pet that I had for probably close to a good two years as a child in elementary school.

Anyway here are some questions:

1. What salamander is the easiest to keep and feed?
I'm not busy, and have all day to mess around with feeding them, looking at them, etc - but I don't want to invest a ton of money (I already, however, have a ton of fish stuff, and cages for these animals)

2. What salamander is the easiest to breed?

3. When it comes to enjoyment, what is better? An aquatic salamander like my long wanted Axolotl, or a terrestrial one like the typical Tiger Salamander?

I've already got it in my mind that I want a male and female wild type Axolotls to breed since I remember having the most fun watching tiger salamander larvae that I captured from a golf course feed, swim, etc more so then the terrestrial adults that mostly just hide themselves in the ground.

How should I go about getting some Axolotls?
Eggs could be shipped to me in the mail, and I could prepare a fantastic tank for them, and get a nice live food source going.
Or perhaps I might be better off getting small live ones, that are able to eat pellets? Ones that are 2-3 inches in size?

That is, if you guys recommend getting them as a pet from someone who is semi-experienced with keeping salamanders as pets.

Oh, also I would be interested in newts, I suppose but something about them just doesn't fascinate me like salamanders do - despite them being very similar.

The more I think about it, the more I want an Axolotl.
Do you think that is a good idea?
If not, perhaps another aquatic salamander species?
