Hello to everyone! :D My family has 4 axolotls. 3 female, 1 male... I'm not sure but I think we've had them 9 to 12 months now. One is very light colored (like albino) and the other 3 are dark. (I need to look over the section on color descriptions to discern exactly what the correct color names are) Here's how we got our "axies". I have a mudpuppy and had purchased some culled axolotl juveniles (due to missing limbs) to feed my mudpuppy when my kids decided some of them needed rescueing. So here we are with 4 happy, healthy, well-established new members to our home-zoo! Did I mention how much fun the axolotls are and how fascinating they are?! We love them! The day before yesterday we noticed our REALLY FAT light colored female laid a few eggs so we excitedly placed our only male in the tank with her and the next day the tank was covered in little pearls (white eggs)! It looks like Christmas lights all over the plastic plants! Ha Ha! We do not know yet if they are fertile or not. Although all 4 axolotls are similar in size, she is our largest axolotl and she was living alone until we added the male to her tank. I wasn't expecting this to happen already but it is that time of the year for breeding, according to what I've read so far. Wish us luck everybody! And we're glad to have this site to learn more about our axolotls. Cheers! :D

Hi welcome to the site,
good luck with the eggs, keep us posted.

thanks for the welcome!

Thanks for the nice welcome :D No outward signs of life showing in the eggs this morning but I'm keepig my fingers crossed we'll see something definitive tomorrow - like perhaps a shape change.
Cheers! Michelle
