hi, my name is Kati and i am new on here, i am particularly interested in Axolotls and wish to find one as a pet before heading off to college this fall. i also have a dog and two cats, i am an animal lover and tend to have more animals than i can handle, living in a dorm room will be too dull and drab with a fascinating pet to keep me busy. new friends are always welcome and information on where to find axolotls or any helpful info on how to keep them and make them happy is also needed

Hi, welcome to the forum
Axies are very fascinating
follow this link http://www.axolotl.org/ and you should find out all you need to know.
I can't help you with where to get one i'm afraid, as I'm a little far away ;) but good luck with your search

Hello Kati and welcome to the forum!

I know that you've been to the "For Sale" section of the forum, but have you made a post in the Wanted section? You also may want to try out this site.

Axolotls are not super popular pets and so they can often be diffcult to find. They are not like hamsters or guinea pigs that breed every few weeks and are easy to raise to adulthood. They take time and energy to breed and then raise up the young and the animals are not available on demand.

Please consider the kind of care you can give an axolotl in a dorm room also. I have yet to see a dorm that doesn't get miserably hot in the warm months. How will you keep the temperature down in his aquarium so that your axolotl doesn't get sick and die? Will your roommate be okay with worms or maybe even an axolotl in the tiny dorm fridge? Axolotls can also become quite large, do you really want to sacrifice value dresser of floor space in your room to house an axolotl? Not to mention the pain of moving the axolotl home at the end of the school year.

For information on axolotl care check out axolotl.org which is also linked in my signature along with many other useful articles.
