Hi! I live on the east coast of the US. I've been keeping newts on and off for years. My first newt was a California Newt named Isaac (I was a little kid, what can I say?). He lived for 8 or more years--eventually I lost count of how many. After Isaac died, I started keeping Eastern Newts. I would have purchased another California Newt, having had such a good experience with Isaac, but for some reason pet stores in my area stopped carrying them. This was also before the internet, so I was unaware of the existence of any breeders in my area.

I currently have a single Eastern Newt as a pet. I find that I prefer to observe amphibians in the wild, rather than keep them as pets. Frogs seem to be more readily accessible where I live, so I spend a lot of time in the Spring and Summer observing leopard frogs, bull frogs, and occasionally wood frogs and Spring Peepers, if I'm lucky enough to find them! I spend a lot of time up close and personal with leopard frogs when rescuing them from my swimming pool in the Summer.

That's about all I can think of to say at the moment! I hope to chat with many of you!

Hello & welcome
Wish i could come across more wild newts & frogs while i'm out walking the dog. Unfortunately ponds are very few and far between these days compared to when i was younger.
Good luck

Hello and welcome to the site! I hope to see more of you around here. It would be fun to see pics of anything you might come across. :D
