Very excited as the children and I picked up our albino axolotl today. Have been keeping fish (and horses and dogs and cats) successfully and thought we would graduate to something a little more unusual. Great to have found a community with so much excellent information. Cheers Sharon

Hello Sharon! Welcom aboard. Feel free to pop over to the axolotl forum and have a read, post a pic of your new baby, ask questions, or just lurk.

Thanks for the lovely welcome. Learning a lot reading the forums. Haven't thought of a question yet that I haven't found the answer to here .

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
