Hi,
I'm Lynn from Dundee & will be getting an axolotl at some point. I've had them before & have a 200l tank looking a bit empty... so have spent a few weeks getting it set up. šŸ˜
I think I've just proved Sod's law exists - after spending ages searching for the missing 'bottle 2' for the ammonia test & buying a new kit online... I found it. šŸ™„šŸ¤£
I look forward to meeting everyone & seeing photos of your beasties.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if youā€™re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isnā€™t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
