Illness/Sickness: Help!! I want my axie to live :(

Hello everyone,
So recently I had to move house and so I thought it would have bee good opportunity to upgrade my axolotl tank. In saying this, one of my axies, names axie, has taken a turn for the worst. Her mood has completely changed (she is a leucitic axolotl) she went from a pinkish red, to very red and now she is purple. She has this weird jelly substance coming out of her cloaca and its swollen, this morning I saw that the substance was a bright green and I worried that this will affect my other axolotls ( chester and toothless). Ive been researching all morning and everything I've read seems to make me worry even more I dont know any melbourne based vets that can help but I am trying to get in contact with the pet shop. PLEASE HELP

Have you tried calling local vet clinics to see if they may take a look at Axie? I think veterinary attention would be best for Axie given the description of symptoms. It could be something serious. Take care with advice given from pet shops. Many fish medications are toxic to axolotls and pet stores often don't have the knowledge to understand what might be wrong and what medications would be safe or appropriate.

Was the new tank cycled before the axolotls were added? Have you tested all the parameters for ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, PH and temperature?

I was clearly really naive when I did this, I had this preconception that they wold run out of air in the small containers that they were in and that everything didn't really matter, but clearly it did. Since yesterday, her colour has improved, her bright green patch of slime has gone ( I think it was just some moss) but the white jelly still seems to coming out of her.. I thought that she might have had a prolapsed cloaca, but I no longer think thats the case.

Its a public holiday today, are an vets open? Do they cost a lot of money? Im 17 and my parents dont really know much about axolotls, they think that vets dont look after them and so they are reluctant to take me..

All the PH, nitrate, ammonia, PH are where they are supposed to be ( as checked by amazing amazon) but they told me that her condition isn't too serious and may go away after she adapts to the water but to give them a call if she gets worse.. I really dont know what to do

I am not sure what would be available today. You would probably need to contact vet clinics by phone to see if they are open and would look at Axie. They would most likely only be open for emergencies and would charge a higher rate for public holidays.

Unfortunately I am not aware of antiparasite medication available in your area without seeking veterinary attention. Hopefully someone here may be able to point you to where you could get some. It would be worth contacting the place Catspit has recommended.

Also, I would suggest investing in your own liquid test kit if at all possible. Maintaining good water quality is important and will aid in recovery of sick axolotls. Having your own kit allows you to test often and regularly and gives you control and is the best way of ensuring the tank's cycle is established and has not crashed. Many stores will say the water is fine when there is actually an issue.
