Sorry it doesn’t look like shedding to me. I don’t have experience with caring for sick newts this young still in the larval stage, so I can’t help you a whole lot with it, hopefully someone else can. But what are your parameters? Ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, ph, temp. They’re so fragile at this stage, even if your parameters were off and that’s what caused it, I’m not confident correcting them now would do a whole lot of good. But maybe it can prevent your other newt from getting sick as well.

Again hopefully someone else knows more about how to deal with this.

Thank you, he sadly passed away this morning :(

Luckily, my larvae all have separate tubs in case something like this happens (I only have 1 fire belly 3 month old larva, 2x neurergus crocatus larva left and two fresh eggs of chinese fire belly)

Sorry for your loss. If you know your parameters were all good I would say don’t think too much of it. I don’t think it’s very likely you can get a 100% survival rate of larvae.
