HELP! My axie has a chunk of his mouth missing!

Recently, my female axie has been beating up on my male. Parts of his tail are missing and a toe but the most recent damage was a chunk taken out of his face around the mouth and there was a bit of blood present.
They are both about 7 inches long, but also just recently spawned.
Ever since this incident, I have separated them.

I just wanted to know if my boy will heal on his own, or if I should disinfect the wound somehow with salt water or something?

I feel so awful, I shed a few tears. I love my axies so much. I just need some opinions to settle my mind.

Salt bathes and fridging are stressful on your axies and should be used when "not" doing these things will hurt them more.

My suggestion is to just keep him in clean fresh dechlorinated water. Nice and cool for him. Black tea bathes or almond leaves will help sooth their skin and help him heal.

If it gets worst, starts to grow fuzzy white fungus, then i would suggest salt bathes/fridging and then last thing is a vet. But axolotls are awesome healers so if you keep the water cool and clean it should heal on its own.

I agree with Alkylhalide. I would also say that if you are using a natural wound healer as your dechlorinator, like Stress Coat +, it will also help to keep the wound clean.
I guess your axxies had a bit of a lover's tiff! He should be okay with a bit of TLC though, just keep an eye out for any swelling or fungus, as bacteria may take the chance to get into his mouth.

He should be fine if his water is kept clean, in a dark, cool place with lots of his favourite food (if he will eat with no problems). But you know that :happy:
