Please help my axolotl's tail seems to be folding down on itself. I don't know if this is a problem or not. Also the other week he seemed to be covered in some kind of cloudy slime so I did a water chance. Water perimeters are all fine. I don't want to give him a salt bath unless I know he needs it. I also noticed the fin running down his back seems to be missing. I looked and it is also folded down. He is still eating like normal. I am not sure about his age, I've had him/her about three weeks. I believe it is close to 4 months.

For some time, my big boy’s tail was ‘rotting’ slowly. Keeping the water quality clean, the problem fixed itself.
Then I realised his tank mate of 4 years was getting snappy, and had bit a chunk off his tail. I removed him and tubbed for a week in cool water (daily, sometimes twice daily changes). I now have them separated by a divider.

My phone won’t let me load your pics, but your problem sounds a bit similar to this. Hopefully this helps until someone more knowledgeable can help :)
