Illness/Sickness: HELP PLEASE! my axolotl is in bad shape

So we tried to get the white stuff off of his arms and his face but no luck. It did not easily come off with the pipette. Should we try and take him out of the water and use a q-tip??

ALSO his belly looks like its dented in as in he has nothing in there :( very worried, he still has no appetite.

We have kept him in the fridge and are doing daily water changes with fridged water. No salt baths.

are we torturing Bil? is there something better we can do for him..:sad:

I would keep watching the white stuff, but perhaps not necessarily do anything else to it just yet. Axolotls are really good at healing themselves especially when in cold water but you must also be patient. They don't quite have the regenerative abilities of Wolverine from X-Men and in reality it can take several weeks so be prepared to fridge for that long. Dont worry too much about starving, they can literally last weeks without eating, (about 3 max with no ill effect an up to about 6 but with some health damage) as long as they do eventually start again!
From your description of the conditions in the pet shop you bought him/her in all these problems could stem from there. That is the injuries to limbs and to skin you've described. As long as you are able to maintain a good fridged environment and stay on top of dechlorinated water changes while it's in there to prevent toxins building up in the water then in my opinion you are doing the absolute best that you can for your new pet monster.

haha thanks for the response! i was really wishing he would have some xmen wolverine healing abilities. but okay i will be patient, i just hate seeing him in his current state, very sads

and to start feeding him again should i keep trying when hes in the fridge? or wait till he looks a little better, let the water thaw out to room temp and put him into his old tank and try to feed him? just wondering what the best way to get some food in his belly..

and i will keep ontop of the water changes. bought some de-chlorinator from the petstore the other day and was still told by them that the regular tap water should be fine.. from what i hear the chlorine in hawaiis tap is very low to none, but none the less will add the dechlorinating liquid.

Thank you everyone who tried to help! i hope be pulls through :(
