One of my axies is very sick in fact I thought it was dead just floating at the top, and very pale but when I went to scoop em out he moved but just barely so I stuck him in the fridge as I've seen this recommended many times for sick axies but what do I do now? Do I still feed him? I'm assuming daily water change out? Anything else I need to know? How long do I keep him in there?

The first thing to do when your axolotl is sick is to check all of the water parameters. Specifically, what are the ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and pH, and what temperature are you keeping the tank at? Report the values here, since those can be clues.

(If you don't have a water test kit, just assume that something is wrong with the tank parameters and do a large water change, like, 50-90%, using an appropriate dechlorinator. And then buy a test kit.)

If everything is fine with the water, consider any recent changes, such as new food, new water conditioner, new person around who may be feeding or doing water changes without you knowing.

Usually, fridging is for constipation, injuries, and to buy you time with a critically ill axolotl. It is stressful to change temperatures, so leave him in there until you have a better idea of what is wrong.

==> Have you read the fridging guide in the thread at the top of this forum? If not, do so. Pay particular attention to the temperature - most fridges are sett a few degrees too cold. Also, did you use fresh, dechlorinated water in the container that you have him in in the fridge? If the problem is in the tank water and you used that, the fridging isn't helping.

I hope your axolotl gets better.

The water was bad I was gone for 2 weeks and they were way over fed I did 100% water change last night my 6 other axies are fine this one also has a white fungus so I looked into salt baths I did find the Fridging guide I am so heart broken I really hope he pulls thru!

Good, you know the source of the problem and have taken steps to fix it. :)

One things that is very hard to do is to just leave the axolotl alone to recover. So, before you do anything (salt baths, fridging) consider how much it will stress your axolotl and whether it is necessary. For mild fungus that doesn't appear to be increasing, the axolotl will usually recover on its own, if kept in clean conditions. (you have to be the judge of whether it is mild or increasing.)

Since one of your axies is sick and the others aren't consider keeping the sick one in a container outside of the regular tank with 100% daily water changes in a cool place. (If it is still in the fridge, it might be best to keep it there if the temps are OK for fridging.) Make sure the container is in a cool place and that it is safe from being knocked over or "investigated" by children/other pets. (If you are fridging, make sure to warm him SLOWLY when it is time to come back out.)

Also keep an eye on the tank parameters to make sure your cycle didn't crash.

Good luck! I hope he pulls through!

Great news! He is already looking sooo much better! He is moving around, no longer floating or curled up! Still seems to be a little weak but I'm very hopeful that he is going to be just fine!
