HELP PLEASE
My African clawed frog began spasming out tonight and it appears to have this whitish stringy film coming out of its mouth. It's also hanging off of one hind toe. My frog is curling up into itself violently, sometimes flips upside down but always rights himself. He seems to have no control over the spasms. At first I thought he was shedding but his movements are too strange.
There are no other visible symptoms that I can see. He was totally fine until I noticed the convulsing about an hour ago. I have not disturbed his habitat in some time. He has a filter and some hides to swim about in.
Please if anyone knows what I can do to help him. I did a 40% water change and removed his hides because they have some algae on them. I also replaced the filter cartridge.

Sorry to hear that your frog is unwell. I can't help with the diagnosis but would suggest that you contact your vet. I have attached a link to help you to find a specialist vet.

Best of luck.

Check for possible chytrid.... if so, chytrid can be quickly cured via itraconazole.

How do I test for Chytrid?

He seems to be doing better this morning when I left for work.

It was very shredded if it was his skin. He didn't seem like he had control over what he was doing and that's what worried me. It didn't look like the other pictures I've seen of shedded skin for albino African clawed frog.

He is still spazzing out. I've only ever fed him little sinking pellets - could he be malnourished? I'm going to purchase some anti-fungal stuff tomorrow and some freeze dried blood worms. I just cant figure out why he is having these convulsions
