Wow! This place is great!
I have been living in a no-pet apartment for the past few years but am finally moving into a place that will let me keep some newts! The only problem is that I come from another part of the US and can't seem to find any locals that sell even "common" species. Does anybody have any ideas of good places to purchase some Notophthalmus, Triturus, or any other newt species for that matter? I now live in Seattle.
Thanks for the help!!
Mike

I suggest posting a wanted-ad about specific species you'd like. I highly recommend Triturus spp. as beginner species. They're hardy, interesting, and usually great feeders.

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
